CMT ANNOUNCES TWO NEWLY DEVELOPED MATERIALS EXCLUSIVELY FOR PHARMACEUTICAL PLUG ASSIST USE
In cooperation with Montesino & Associates, LLC, CMT Materials is pleased to announce the development of HYTAC-Rx, a syntactic plug assist material developed solely for pharmaceutical blister packaging. HYTAC-Rx syntactic materials are food contact grade and are listed in CMT Materials, Inc. Drug Master File (DMF) number 21370. Plug assist tooling manufactured with HYTAC-Rx materials aids in the thermoforming process, resulting in more uniform material distribution and improved barrier performance.
Developed to meet the specific demands of the pharmaceutical packaging industry, HYTAC-Rx is available in both a high-slip and a high-stick formulation. These material options provide the manufacturer with greater control over the thermforming process, and the ability to optimize plug assist tooling for better material distribution and performance. This improvement may also result in the ability to down-gage film thickness providing substantial cost savings, especially with some of the new, higher priced multi-layer films.
Syntactic materials have long been used to fabricate plug assists in the thin gage thermoforming industry to produce cups, containers, and packaging for the food, medical, electronic and consumer markets. HYTAC-Rx is the first and only material designed for pharmaceutical blister tooling. CMT will preview the new material at the Interpack Trade Show in Dusseldorf, Germany April 24th – 30th.

We are pleased
announce that as of December 1st 2006, CMT has upgraded to an 11,000 square
foot facility across town in Attleboro, MA. CMT purchased the building in
October of 2006 and has renovated the new facility to suit its syntactic
processing requirements. The new facility allows us to increase both production
and warehousing space, as well as offering improved capabilities in the area of
large plug fabrication and custom cutting, assembly and bonding of HYTAC, REN
SHAPE, METAPOR and related materials.
